Golf? Yes golf.

So what’s it got to do with Dale Beaumont you might ask?

Well Dale and Leon Faulkner, a professional golf coach, are spearheading a campaign to establish Australia’s first purpose-built local and international junior golf academy. Called ‘Golf Rocks’, it’s designed to stimulate golf participation by providing a pathway for juniors to practise and play.

With a proposed location in Sydney’s northern beaches, the academy will also act as a drawcard for young players from Japan, South Korea, China, India and even Russia – countries that are enjoying a booming interest in golf.

“My son Finn loves to play golf and he’s had success with it even at a very young age, including representing Australia in the Under 7 team at a tournament in the US,” says Dale. “I’m enthusiastic about creating a place that nurtures his passion and that of other kids too. It will be fantastic for the sport to have a facility like Golf Rocks that promotes and supports junior talent.”

Dale and Leon have met with numerous local and state government representatives and received enthusiastic support for the proposal.

“We believe Golf Rocks offers advantages on lots of fronts,” says Dale. “It encourages a healthy, outdoor lifestyle for our kids, and in years to come, it will help boost memberships in golf clubs elsewhere – something that’s been declining in many parts of Australia. Golf Rocks will also attract many visitors from other parts of the world which is good for the economy too.”
