The idea for Secrets Exposed came from Dale Beaumont’s time running Empower U, where he worked with young people on goal setting and success.
One of the lessons he kept coming back to was simple: if you want to achieve something, find people who have already done it and learn from them. The fastest way to improve is often to study people who are already where you want to be, understand how they think and learn from the mistakes they have already made.
But people kept asking the same questions: How do I find these people? What do I ask them? And why would they give me their time?
That got Dale thinking. What if he did the hard work for them? What if he found successful people, researched their stories, asked the right questions and packaged everything they had learned into a book that anyone could access?
That idea became Secrets Exposed, a series designed to take readers up close and personal with some of Australia and New Zealand’s most successful people.
Across the series, Dale interviewed hundreds of high achievers from different industries and walks of life, digging into how they thought, what they did differently, the mistakes they made and the lessons that helped them succeed. The goal was simple: extract the most useful knowledge possible and make it available to anyone who wanted to learn from it.
Because whatever you are trying to achieve, chances are someone has already done something similar. They have spent years figuring things out, made expensive mistakes, discovered what works and learned what does not. Instead of starting from scratch, you can borrow from their experience and make better decisions faster.
That principle applies whether you are 16 or 60. While the original idea was sparked by Dale’s work with young people, the books were always designed for anyone who wants to grow, achieve more or learn directly from people who have already walked the path.
Each book brings together the thinking, strategies and real-world lessons of successful people in a particular field. Dale and his team carefully researched every contributor and developed detailed questions designed to get beyond surface-level advice and uncover the decisions, habits, lessons and experiences behind their results.
Written responses were used wherever possible, giving contributors time to think deeply about their answers rather than simply responding off the cuff. The result was a richer collection of insights that readers could study, highlight, return to and, most importantly, apply.
The original series struck a chord. Between 2005 and 2007, the first 15 titles sold more than a quarter of a million copies, and readers wrote in to say the books had inspired them to start businesses, invest in property, change careers, step into leadership roles and pursue goals they had previously put off.
In 2018 the series eventually grew to 18 books, all built around the same belief: you do not have to learn everything through trial and error. You can learn from people who have already invested the time, made the mistakes and figured out what works, then use those lessons to move forward faster and make smarter decisions.

The world has changed enormously since the first Secrets Exposed books were published, but that principle has not. If anything, with more information, more noise and more competing advice than ever, being able to learn directly from credible people with real experience has become even more valuable.
Secrets Exposed was created to make that knowledge accessible to everyone, without needing the connections, introductions or confidence to get in the room yourself. Eighteen books have been published so far, and there may well be even more books to come.
